Breaking Free from Resentment: The Surprising Benefits of Setting Boundaries

Hi. I have trouble setting boundaries. 🙋🏼‍♀️

Do you?

Sure you do. We all do. Maybe you excel at boundary setting at work but struggle in your personal life. Or vice versa. Or maybe you aren’t great at either. It’s ok. You’re not alone.

Here are a few lessons I have learned from NOT setting boundaries:

❌ Resentment builds up. That is not fair to either party.

❌ Confidence wanes.

❌ I overextend myself. This robs me of my joy, my time and eventually affects my health.

And the lessons I have learned from setting boundaries:

✅ I am not responsible for how others react to my boundaries.

✅ I feel relief after the uncomfortable but necessary conversation.

✅ My confidence grows each time I set (and enforce) a boundary.

✅ It gets easier the more I do it.

✅ It allows what is meant for me the space/opportunity to present itself. (So far, this has been true 100% of the time). The second I say no or set a boundary, within 24 hours, something else comes along that is better and aligns with my values.

✅ If people don’t respect you or your boundaries, if all else fails, you always have the choice to LEAVE. 👊🏼

Is there a boundary you need to set this week? Let’s embrace the challenge of setting boundaries together and…
