***Author’s note: Although this blog will predominantly feature the remarkable individuals I encounter during my travels across the US and around the globe, it is worth noting that my journey has only just begun. As I prepare for the adventure to begin in late June, I would like to share some of personal and professional lessons I have learned over the past year.***
I saw the Broadway play, “Goodnight, Oscar” in NYC last weekend. It offers an excellent masterclass on both business and personal growth. Here’s why:
🌱 Don’t be afraid to take a risk. Every character in this play took a risk of some sort: The NBC exec by doing a show from LA vs. NYC. Jack Parr, for doubling down on his notoriously wildcard of a guest. And Oscar Levant (played by my favorite Sean Hayes) for being brave and vulnerable enough to put his mental health and addiction issues on display for the world to see. Literally.
🌱 Sometimes you just have to go for it and ask for forgiveness later.
🌱 If you are always worrying about what others think of you, or what the competition is doing, you will never move forward.
🌱 It’s time to take some risks and ditch the, “what will they think of me?” thoughts holding you back. Just go for it! By doing so, you, your business, and your brand will grow.
Let’s Grow! 🌱
🌱 P.S. Unsolicited commentary if you are still here: I have loved Sean since his Will and Grace days and now am a super fan of Smartless. To see him in this role, one that is as physically demanding as it is outside of his normal “range” is so impressive. I hope he gets a Tony nom and wins. He deserves it.
P.P.S. This photo accurately depicts my excitement anxiously waiting for Sean to come out and sign autographs
